On May 30th, Zhongkai Society for Science and Technology invited Professor Li Jianjun and Professor Xu Wenyao to deliver themed lectures on "Promoting the Spirit of Scientists and Stimulating the Innovation Vitality of the Whole Society" to the teachers and students of Zhongkai Qiling Primary School, Zhongkai Sixth Middle School, Zhongkai Ninth School, and Zhongkai Tenth Primary School.
Dr. Li Jianjun, a researcher at the Beijing Natural History Museum, has dedicated his career to scientific research, popularization, and exhibition of paleovertebrate zoology, primarily focusing on dinosaurs. The topic of Dr. Li Jianjun's lecture was "The Causes of Dinosaur Extinction". Using simple and understandable language, he engaged in a question-and-answer session to convey his message in an accessible manner. He guided the students to delve into and comprehend the fascinating world of dinosaurs from three perspectives: "What is a dinosaur?", "The Causes of Dinosaur Extinction", and "Lessons from Dinosaur Extinction", sparking their curiosity to explore the mysteries of dinosaurs.
Professor Xu Wenyao, a researcher at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a professor and doctoral advisor at the Graduate School, and the vice chairman of the Chinese Committee of the International Union of Geomagnetism and Aerospace Physics, delivered a lecture titled "Starting from the Wandering Earth". Drawing on his profound knowledge and extensive experience, he presented in a concise, vivid, humorous, and witty manner, revolving around three major questions: "Why did the Earth escape from the sun? How did it escape? Where did it go?" The logic was clear and interconnected, as he scientifically and rigorously interpreted 16 related scientific questions, sparking students' interest in exploring the universe.
